Poshmark is different from many other shopping platforms in that the bulk of the buyers and sellers are people just like you and me. They are people who want to clean out their closet, refresh their wardrobe with a unique clothing item or accessory, and who care about reducing waste.
Giving clothing another life in someone’s closet is one way to reduce waste. Because sellers are individuals and not large businesses, their packaging and Poshmark gifts often take on a personal touch.
In fact this is something Poshmark has encouraged from the very beginning. And around the holidays they also encourage sellers to think outside the box with special holiday packaging or freebies.
How I Package Poshmark Sales
Before I offer gift and freebie ideas to include with your Poshmark sales, I want to share how I package my items. I’ve been selling on Poshmark since 2017. To date, I have sold more than 600 items.
I’ve used the same packaging methods now for four years without a single buyer complaint on packaging. Now while packaging and presentation is important, I will also say that fast shipping time is especially paramount nowadays.
I make sure I have my packaging supplies readily available, along with the item that sold, so I can not only wrap it nicely but also get it shipped quickly. I use the free USPS mailers for all of my items. Each item is folded neatly, many using the KonMari method (I started this folding method close to two years ago).
Then I wrap each item in tissue paper. I mostly use white but for some items I will use colored tissue as long as I believe there is no risk for bleed. I secure each item with colorful washi tape.

As a Poshmark buyer I’ve had the pleasure of receiving many packages over the years, some of which have included Poshmark gifts to me. Here are a few of my favorites, and common gifts you may wish to include with your sale item. Adding a gift lends an additional personal touch.
• Hand Written Thank You Note: This is probably the most popular gift on Poshmark but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful. Many sellers will include a handwritten Thank You card or note. Usually it thanks the buyer for shopping, wishes the clothing item on a new journey or encourages the buyer to return to shop again. Etsy is a great place to shop for these items.
• Inspirational Card or Scripture: This is probably my favorite gift to date because it’s so simple and uplifting. I’ve received a handful of Poshmark items that contained a simliar note, usually a card or business card shape which features words of encouragement or scripture. I’ve saved some of these to decorate my office, refrigerator, use as bookmarks, etc. anywhere I need a pick me up.
• Repeat Customer Coupon Card: This is a nice item to include if you are hoping to build a stronger customer base and repeat sales. It can be the form of a note card or business card. Usually the seller includes a special code to mention before purchase, or when bundling items for sale. The repeat buyer code might be 10 or 20% off or more.
• Stickers: Many sellers include stickers to secure their packaging but this is another idea for a low cost, fun and creative thank you. Include a sheet or partial sheet of stickers. Neutral or general fun is probably best so the stickers can be used by the buyer in their day planner, or in their own cards to friends and family.
• Fancy Ribbons or Bows: If you are someone who really likes to go all out with gift wrapping, including hand made bows or ribbons can be fun. In fact the buyer might even be able to reuse these items on another gift or as holiday decor.
• Small Trinkets or Accessories: Depending on your inventory and sales you might want to or be able to include additional small accessories with your Poshmark sale. Ideas include: fuzzy socks, hair ties, headbands, scrunchies, charms, trinkets or key chains. Additionally the item can correspond with the gift such as socks included with a shoe purchase or a key chain with a handbag purchase.

In Summary
While there are a lot of gift ideas you can include with your Poshmark sales to lend a personal touch there is at least one I’ve found most every buyer does not want to receive, any food item or any item which could melt or cause allergy.
Keep in mind your buyer may live in a warmer climate than you such as Arizona or an area where the package could be left in a hot truck for hours before delivery. Never include anything that could damage the purchase, this also includes items such as lip balm or cosmetics which can also melt or explode.
