Before we get to my vital stats… first… the run recap…. Monday: 4 miles (41:53) What a great run! My guts were rolling because I ate beforehand but I managed through the cramps. Then my IT band started screaming again around mile 2. I adjusted my foot strike and like boom – the pain was gone! husband paced me on this one. What a great job he did! Now onto the Vital Stats.
A few weeks ago when I went to my FREE yoga clinic I saw a flier for free fitness screenings at the IPFW (our local university). I went to the screening Monday night to get my vitals taken. I would like to have a cholesterol test but that was not offered at this particular screening. I was most interested in the body fat percentage. Here’s what I found out….
Height: 5 feet, 1/2 inch (Um… hello… It’s 5 feet, 1 inch. Get it right.)
Weight: 115.8 lbs. (The same as the gym scale said on Sunday! Clothed, of course.)
Body Fat Percentage: 25.6% (Average. Women should be 20-27%. No less than 8%.)
Pounds of Body Fat: 29.5 (Average)
BMI: 23 (25 or below = Healthy for my size)
Blood Pressure: 118/70 (Below Normal, Still Healthy)
Blood Sugar Level: 88 (Normal)
Height and Weight: No surprises here.
Body Fat Percentage: I think this was a little high. I talked to a friend who said water can sometimes be mistaken for fat. Well I had hydrated big time for the blood test. I came home and tried out our at home scale and body fat calculator (this one uses a metal current conductor like the one at the university) and this time it registered at 21.9 percent body fat. If you know me and what I look like I think that sounds a bit more reasonable. But that’s just my opinion.
Blood Pressure: Mine is always low. No complaints there.
Blood Sugar: I assumed it would be normal. I am pretty good at watching my sugar intake and no one has diabetes in my family.
