Friday: Planned REST Day
Saturday: 8-mile run
Sunday: Lower Body/Abs (30 minutes)
Monday: Unplanned REST Day
It’s already fall, but I’m pretty sure this past weekend was the last taste of summer we’re going to have here in Northeast Ohio. And if I’m wrong — I’ll welcome it.
On Saturday I ran 8 miles with Kimi. She is a drill sergeant — in a good way. No run will get past her unless the full mileage is completed, down to the last meter on the Garmin. More than once during the run I thought to myself “Why did I sign up for 13.1? Eight seems so long!”
Don’t get me wrong. It was a really good run, and I was more than happy to have some companionship along the way. 🙂 But it was challenging for me, mostly because I had and on and off side cramp throughout the run. I haven’t had a side cramp in months, but I think this one might have been due to hydration issues. I was not able to hydrate as much as I would have liked the night before our long run.
We finished in 1:29 and had an overall average pace around 11:14/mile. Kimi is tapering down for her (first) Columbus Marathon! I am tapering “up” for my half-marathon, so the mileage worked out great on both our schedules. Oh and check out the sweat here — I had to take photo evidence of my salty sweating.
Is anyone else a “salty” sweater?
Sunday I completed a lower body workout along with abs and some back exercises. It was nothing fancy, just mostly using machines at the gym. When we left the gym I said to the husband “What is wrong with us?! We should be at the beach or something.” It was 80-some degrees out Sunday and not a cloud in the sky. So with that I went to the beach.
Got My Toes in the Sand
It was truly beautiful out and I was glad to enjoy some peace and quiet there. We moved here right as the seasons began to change, so I was sad I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the beach this year. I’m happy I was wrong.
Flock of Seagulls
I had a LARABAR Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte while I was there, which was pretty tasty, especially if you have a sweet tooth. This one has both chocolate and cherries in it and only six ingredients — all of which I can pronounce.
(Disclosure: I was sent free samples of this new flavor by LARABAR. I was not compensated monetarily in any way for mentioning this product.)
