Run group was a heat-fest, which I discussed last week and then of course I did make it to my weekly yoga class on Thursday and did a yoga video at home on Wednesday. My ITB was also flaring up during my runs, which as you can see I only ran twice this week.
My eats are steady, nothing too horrible going on over here although I had Starbucks Iced Coffee three times last week! I had done so good at only going 1x per week and then I got really stressed out/feeling down and out and I went on a binge. Alas, I’ll start anew this week. OK, now the weekend fun…. It’s going to look like I did a lot, but in reality I was a total bum outside of these activities.
However! In my defense I used the mat extensively for one semester in college and then put it in the closet for 4 years. It was not until this spring that the mat re-emerged and has been used. All the while I have always made a point to fold my yoga mat in half and then roll it up. That way, I figure, I won’t be rolling the underside onto the top side and spreading dirt.
I wanted to find a natural remedy, if possible, so that I could clean it at home and not have to purchase some cleaner and then wait for it to arrive. I found this recipe on a yoga blog and took it into action. (Please Note: My yoga mat did not have any brown water with it!)
After cleaning the yoga mat with the solution and scrubbing a bit with a dish-type scrub brush in the tub, I then sprayed it with some hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit a bit and then did a quick rinse off with water. I hung the mat to dry. It seems as if cleaning it has brought back some of the stickiness of the mat. I also washed the mat bag in cold water in the wash. We are now poppin’ fresh over here!
Ran an “OK” 3.3 miles around the gym trail. ITB was growling and my mental state was just not there. My mind was wandering to other things but I was still glad I broke a sweat. Went to the first and only real frozen yogurt shop in Fort Wayne after the run! I tried going here last week and there were like 60 people out the door. The shop opened April 29 and apparently it’s the hottest thing in town.
The only other time I have had froyo was in September 2010 in Columbus, OH. The shop there had Small, Medium or Large. This shop in Fort Wayne is called Yogurt on Your Own and is by the cup weight. It’s 40-cents per ounce. It cost the husband and I a total of $6.20 combined for ours. Which Indiana pretty much sucks when it comes to tax so that $6.20 includes tax. They tax you on everything here. Compared to the Gourmet’ Runner’s experience, it sounds like we got a deal. I was consciously very light on the toppings and took only a “squirt” of three flavors. I had espresso, dark chocolate and vanilla bean. I thew a tiny, tiny bit of granola and cookie dough on top. The husband (not pictured) had snicker doodle.
I would consider this a rare treat for me. Next time I plan to try some fruit flavors and opt for fruit toppings. From what I read on some of the west coast blogs, this stuff is very addicting and very popular out there! Considering this is the first froyo in Fort Wayne, I think this is just now kinda making it’s way to the Midwest. We are rather slow over here if you haven’t noticed yet.
In the evening I headed to the Ladies Night sale at Three Rivers Running Company where I scored a FREE bra via the Asics rep who was there. Sweet! It’s a medium to high impact bra and I was nerdy and looked up the retail. $40! I will likely write up a review after I get to try it out. I definitely like the color scheme and the criss-cross back style.
