About a year ago I wrote this post. I talked about how I thought I would become a morning person and love it and who knows, even maybe workout in the morning. Fast forward a year. It totally didn’t happen. But I’m a year older and wiser now, right? Enter 5 a.m.
My new wake up time. They say it takes 21-days to form a habit. So I’m giving this three weeks. Monday was the first day. I woke up at 5 a.m. and was working out by 5:15 a.m. You read that right.
The only times I have at my own will gotten up this early were for my half-marathons (Fort Wayne I’m talking about you) and for family vacations. Monday’s workout was two sluggish miles on the treadmill. I had to start somewhere. It’s a wretched hour.
But something needs to change around here. I’ve been low on energy and it’s been difficult to workout at the end of my day. My pants fit horribly right now and I just feel …. ugh. (Ladies you know what I mean). My late 20s are catching up to me, or something, and it’s just not cool.
I realize it’s only been one day, but the hardest part so far? Going to bed early. It’s going to be an adjustment, to say the least. Help me commit to this OK? Those of you who already do the 4 or 5 a.m. workouts please give me a word of encouragement.
How does working out early make your life better?
