I had an odd experience Thursday night. I tried out a new yoga studio – and was the only person in class. I think many would find this uncomfortable and think about canceling their practice and leaving. For a split second, I thought the same. But then I realized that would defeat the purpose of my practice and me trying to better myself through physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. So I stuck it out, I was the only person in yoga class.
Only Person in Yoga Class
When I’ve attended larger classes it’s easy to get lost in a sea of yogis. The extra one-on-one attention with the instructor helped my form tremendously. The class was a power vinyasa at Yoga at the Force, located within Force Indoor Sports in Rocky River, Ohio.
“Power Vinyasa is a practice adaptable to ALL LEVELS. Power Vinyasa is a flow, which fosters flexibility and strength in increments set to the practitioners pace. The flow integrates your body and mind to a one-pointed focus. Flow is a total immersion where your emotions and physical being are channeled and aligned to the present moment. The area of discipline comes from finding a steady rhythmic breath;otherwise know as ujjayii breathing. You will sweat, and pass new boundaries in physical fitness.”
Yoga at the Force is primarily a power vinyasa studio, which is a style I learned to enjoy at LOTUS while living in Fort Wayne. The practice was challenging to my hips, especially during some standing leg poses, but I enjoyed breaking a sweat and completing sun-salutation after sun-salutation.
Yoga at the Force offers an introductory pass to all new students. For $12 you receive 1 week of unlimited classes! They also offer a Friday “happy hour” $5 class and donation-based practices. For the lowdown on the schedule and pricing you can find them on Twitter, Facebook and the web.
Only Person in Yoga Class
From what the instructor told me the studio is newer and in the midst of building a clientele base. Perhaps a vinyasa yogi’s best kept secret? Either way I’m eager to try some more classes here. My goal has been to leisurely continue trying new studios/specials until I find the perfect fit. When I settled in for the night I opened up a gift from a secret santa exchange I participated in Thursday.
I was so excited and thankful to receive this sampler pack. I really enjoy tea, especially TAZO brand, so this was a real treat for me. TAZO teas have great flavor and are high-quality. I immediately found myself grabbing the “Calm” to help me wind down after a long day.
Outside of a great practice and tasty tea, I’m thankful to sleep in my own bed again and to be able to eat at home. Ironically, while I usually look forward to eating out, during business travel it can grow old rather quickly. Have a great weekend folks!
so jealous of your tazo sampler. love those teas!
kudos to you for sticking out the practice solo and having such a good attitude about it. can’t beat a private! 😉
I think yoga is the only class I’d be able to take by myself. Love the tea sampler set!
That’s a great point!
Solo spin class? Solo kickboxing? I don’t think it would be the same. Haha.
That is a little awkward. When my good friend began teaching a yoga class at our gym, it took a while for people to start enrolling, for a few sessions I was the only student. I sure wasn’t complaining about the one-on-one attention though!
Very cute sampler tea set, I might have to pick one of those up for gifts this year.
Never thought about a solo yoga class but I would easily do it. It’s like Personal Training Yoga!
That Tazo sampler seems perfect for you! Yum. Enjoy the Yoga!! (and the tea)
My friend is obsessed with the Passion tea and you can’t get it where she lived. That stuff is so good!
A solo yoga class would be awesome but then I would force myself to do poses that are uncomfortable! Definitely a nice thing, though! I love Tazo tea too – great gift!
