Friday night I had the pleasure of enjoying some food, drink and company at the VIP Reception for the 2012 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon. The evening is the signature kick-off event for race weekend and offers a time for race sponsors, organizers and local personalities to socialize and reflect on race weekend – now in its 35th year.
Here are a few photos from the event, held at The Arcade in downtown Cleveland.
The Arcade has been a fixture in Cleveland history since 1890.
Enjoying some pasta with Alfredo sauce, spinach, tomatoes and sausage.
The signature drink was a sweet, blueberry-flavored “Marathon Martini.”
The food was delicious, including a fresh cut of beef.
I had a mini red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting for dessert.
Local WKYC sportscaster Jim Donovan was one of the guest speakers for the evening, touting his history with the Cleveland Marathon (he live anchored the event years ago). He also shared his passion for the event and the attention it draws to Cleveland. The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon weekend continues tomorrow with day two of the expo at the IX Center!
*Disclosure: As a 2012 Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Blogger I will receive complimentary entry into the race of my choice, along with special access to pre and post-race events, in exchange for writing about my training for this event.
