The past two days I ran outside. Who wouldn’t? The weather has been lovely and in the 50s here in Cleveland. I came back after my run and immediately had that feeling I should take a picture. Taking a post-run picture used to be pretty routine on my blog. In fact it was pretty routine on any running or fitness blog. But that was four years ago when I first started blogging. When I tried taking a “selfie” this week, it was just not happening.
Why I’m Done with the Selfie
It doesn’t feel comfortable for me to do, so I’m not going to. Don’t get me wrong. I still love race photos and will continue to post them on my blog when I can. I just don’t really have a need or desire to be taking “sweaty pics” of myself. I really don’t want to see the pictures, so why should anybody else? Perhaps I’m showing my age, or perhaps this is because the tone and direction of my blog has evolved and grown with me over the past four years.
By now it’s old news that the “selfie” was named word of the year for 2013. But I really think this type of photo is trendy and won’t last. I’m just kind of over them. Of course, I’m not 20 either. So what do I know? So how about you, are you done with the selfie? Are you feeling just as weird and uncomfortable with them as I am?
